You're here and we're on to something. Looking at one another, wondering, 'Who is this?' I'm a prisoner of the poor choices of my youth) I was 16 when I came to prison), fighting to overcome them: after nearly 20 years, I'm no longer that person. I'm
a writer, having just completed the first draft of my first novel. ("The
Homecoming"--a horor story). I'm an artist developing my own comic strip)
("Heaven's Scent"); I'm a paralegal and a certified Peer Counselor's Aide. I've
also worked with at - risk youth, hoping to help them escape the poor choices
I've made.I love Anita, Prince and Sade as much as Nickleback's "Rock-star" and Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer". How about you? I'm not opposed to discussing my case (it's not heinous), but not in this forum. I don't want you for your money or packages (I'm blessed with supportive family and friends). I'm interested in your thoughts and laughs, your creative spirit; your strength, frailties, notions and voice. Your softly pampered, casual femininity: how you kick your shoes off in public when you're comfortable, and playfully slap my shoulder and act shocked when I've said something dark or goofy. I'm interested because you believe in God as much as I do; and you believe in me like I do in you. How can't I believe in you? You're witty, sincere and brainy (Talk nerdy to me!), with goals and real dreams. To you, 'qualitative change' isn't what you get back for buying a gallon of milk. You're a voracious reader (You've read "Beloved", right? "A Thousand Splendid Suns"?) and you didn't laugh when you found out I cried watching "A.I.", "Schindler's List" and "Soul Food", because you cried too. Like me, you're a cut above the rest and, because of that, I'll take you real serious. However, we're apt to fallout laughing without a single word being said. We're on to something...that's why we're here and you're wearing that smile. Let's go somewhere less rowdy and talk. On an open line, Elias Beltran # 91-A-1145 Elmira Correctional Facility P O Box 500 Elmira, NY 14902-0500 USA |
