20 YEARS GONEHi, my name is Wayne. When I came to prison, I was a 22 year old smart mouth, know it all. I am now 44 years old and I do not know that kid. Keep in mind, I am not jus incarcerated, but am someone's son, brother, father, uncle and
grandfather. Family is very important to me, and although I do not
have many members left, nor do I get to see them as often as I like, I cherish
every moment I get with them. When I came to prison, my education was the
equivalent of an 8th grader. Since then, I have earned an Associates Degree
(with honors).I have worked my entire sentence, earning enough to pay off all my legal financial obligations and child support, in addition to being self supportive. I occupy my spare time with playing my guitar, doing ceramics, reading, playing sports and participating in our Dog Program. I was lucky enough to be one of the 16 selected to help start this great new program to rescue and train dogs.
I have just under seven years remaining on my sentence, and besides family, I do not know a single person from before I was incarcerated (which could be a good thing). Prison is a lonely place where hundreds (or even thousands) of strangers surround you, that you do not want to get to know.
I am not looking for romance and I am not looking for a handout. What I am looking for, is a friend. Someone to write to, to talk to and maybe even visit someday. I cannot offer much, other than to guarantee that your friendship will be returned tenfold. I am an open honest person, as well as non-judgmental. All responses greatly appreciated and responded to promptly.
